I learnt this dish from a Maharashtrian friend. The recipe is very simple and delicious. She normally makes it with rice and sol kadi but I prefer it with dal-rice.
Ingredients:
1 whole prompfret slit in the middle
1 cup grated coconut
2 green chillies finely chopped
1 tsp fresh grated ginger
3 cloves of garlic finely chopped
2 tbsp cilantro, finely chopped
1 tbsp lemon juice
1 tsp tumeric powder
1 tsp salt
1 tsp red chilli powder
1 tbsp oil.
Thread for tying the fish.
Method:
Rub the promfret with tumeric powder, salt and chilli powder both outside as well as inside the slit and keep aside for half an hour.
Combine coconut, cilantro, chillies, ginger and garlic.Add lemon juice and mix well.
Take the promfret and stuff it with the coconut mixture.Take some thread and tie it across the fish so that it doesnt open up.
Take frying pan.Add a tbsp of oil and cook the fish on low flame for approx 15 minutes on the first side and then 10 minutes on the other.
Remove from the pan.Cut the thread and serve hot.

That looks absolutely delicious! Pomfret is my favourite kind of fish; but unfortunately, i can find them frozen here and I can’t get myself to buy fresh fish on my own. Can I come over for dinner? No, I mean seriously?
