This is an amazing Konkani dish. It has a nice spicy, tangy flavour and it is very easy to make. You can have it either with rice or chapathi’s.
Ingredients:
3 large potatoes boiled
1 large onion sliced
1 tsp jeera
6 to 7 kashmiri chillies
1 small lime sized ball of tamarind
1 tsp sugar
2 tbsp oil
salt to taste
Method:
Peel and cut the potatoes into 1 inch cubes.
Dry roast kashmiri chillies. Once they cool down, blend them with the tamarind using little water to a fine paste.
Heat oil in a kadhai. Add the jeera. Once they splatter, add the onion and saute till brown.
Then add the ground masala and saute’ for a few seconds. Add about half cup of water and bring it to a boil.
Add the salt , potatoes and sugar and mix. Once it comes to a boil, reduce the heat and simmer for another 5 minutes till the gravy becomes a bit thick.
Serve hot with rice or chapathis.
PS: I am sending this to Srivalli for the “Curry Mela“
I am also sending this to EC for the “Colour in Food Event“
This also goes to Sheetal for the “SWC Karnataka” event.
A big thanks to Priti,Lubna,Sangeeth and Srivalli for pointing me towards the above events
